Gray Hair Color

We found a handful who had decided to let their gray (or silver or white or salt-and-pepper) come in naturally. A lot of times the natural gray is not always the desired gray color you want. Using a gray hair color can add a fresh and natural look to your dull and dry hair.

What Gray Hair Color Is Right For You

Gray or white hair tends to look best with pink, olive, and dark complexions. If you are very pale, you’ll probably look washed-out and should consider highlights or low-lights. Brown hair that looks mousy as the gray comes in can be brightened and enriched by adding in highlights and low-lights.

Another good option if you’re just starting to go gray is to use a semi permanent glaze. This will stain a lot of the gray, and when the color starts to fade, you won’t have a root line. If your gray comes in wiry, it’s because it’s dry, so use a weekly deep condition to moisturize and calm it down. To counteract any yellow tones, get a violet-based gloss at the salon every six to eight weeks; it coats the hair and gives it shine.

You will be amazed at the many different gray hair color and tones of gray that is available. See what is closest to your natural changing hair. Some women gray in spots and not in an even pattern. By using a gray hair color you can turn gray with a more even, natural look.

Going gray does not have to be a dreaded thing. Chose a gray hair color that compliments your skin tone and love the hair you are in. Gray is a beautiful color that can add a youthful and fresh look to your face. Women who try to color their hair too dark at an older age enhances their age. It is better to use a gray hair color and gradually grow old, gracefully.

I don’t know much about hair dying and such but I suggest consulting a hair dresser or hair expert first.

You could find out from them how you could do it from home, or they could give you a quoted price on how much it would cost you to get them to do it for you.

Or to be more precise the man with a load of mud, albeit a Dead Sea mud facial treatment, plastered over his face! :-)

I was reflecting tonight on getting older as indeed I will be in 20 days and I happened to come across a pic in the local rag of my namesake, Olympic swimming champion Mark Foster, who is the same age as me and actually grew up in Southend too!

I was thinking he looks great for his (our) age and even his salt and pepper grey hair really suits him, so for a brief moment I toyed with the idea of letting my natural hair colour grow through, although to be honest I’m not sure what colour that would be these days.

Anyhow, that moment lasted all of five minutes when I decided bugger it…realising I have no intention of growing old gracefully and promptly set about dyeing my hair blue! Lol

It was after enduring that ordeal that I decided to plaster my face in mud! :-)

So here’s to growing old disgracefully!!

This is version 2. The first is in full colour, then I did a black and white version with only my face in colour (this one) and also a black and white version with just my blue eyes in colour. I both love and hate editing effects! lol

OK, I’m a total sheep for doing this "face your manga" thing today, but whatever.

I decided to give her white hair because… (big sigh)… that’s my real hair color. Early gray runs in my family. My father was salt and pepper by the time he was 20. I got my first gray hair at 12. At this point, my hair colorists tell me I’m 80-90% gray (more in some places, less in others), but that I’m very lucky because it’s coming in a nice, bright white color, and it’ll look really fierce when I finally decide to quit hiding it.

I’m going to turn 40 next month, and I’ve begun thinking more and more about when I’m going to pull that trigger. When I was 30, it was easy to say, "Well, I’m too young to be gray, so I can justify dropping a load of cash on color every four weeks." Now, peering over the edge of 40, that’s getting harder to say with a straight face.

I’m glad I made this little manga image with her white hair. I think she does look fierce, and I plan on keeping her around just to remind me that someday I can be a fierce, white-haired woman.

      PS
Just for kicks, I did my husband, too.
