Question by You’ll Never Take Me Alive!!: Is there a hair dye that lightens your hair as it dyes it another color?
I like to dye a portion of my hair fun colors like purple, blue, pink, red etc… But I have dark brown hair and it’s a pain to bleach it everytime… Does anyone know a hair dye that lightens dark hair while dying it one of the colors I mentioned above? Thanks!

You are missing the point here. Those “fun colours” you call them, are stains. They are not hair dyes (there really is no such thing). They can only work on bleached hair. The hair needs to have all colour removed for them to show best, and the hair needs to be “opened up” by the bleach so that the stain can get into the hair and last longer. You CAN put them on dark hair, but the dark will still make the hair dark, and it will only sit on the outside, and will be washed off in a shampoo or two.

Sorry, there is no other way than to bleach first and then apply the stains. This has to be done in two applications. There is no one-step bleach and stain.

Question by Kevin: My hair refuses to hold hair dye. What are some ways and/or products that will hold?
So, I have moderately thin brown hair and I’ve been been desperately trying to dye my hair black but every time I do it whether it’s permanent or temporary hair dye it always washes out completely two to four days later. Please, what is a hair dye that is strong? What’s a product that will lock it in? Please, this is so distressing.

Permanent black dye won’t wash out, make sure you apply it to dry hair whatever the instructions say, it has a far greater chance of grabbing if it’s done on dry hair.

Marked down even though I’m correct as always lol.

How soon can I dye my hair without damaging it?

Question by Sarah: How soon can I dye my hair without damaging it?
I just dyed my hair about an hour ago and I really don’t like how it came out. I had black hair and dyed it red. Only the roots changed and they’re more noticeable than before. I used Splat hair dye.
If I used the bleach it came with would I be able to dye it sooner? Or could I get it dyed at a salon and not damage it?
Hypothetically, how much would I damage my hair if I re-dyed it at a salon tomorrow?

Just don’t use peroxide or bleach. I dye my hair a lot and I just follow that rule, my hair is still so healthy from just dying over the other color. In fact I was offered a modeling job because of my hair…so it must work lol
